This goes out with a shout to The Brother - "a noble soul and a prince among men."

1. Back in 2023, two things happened: I caught Covid and I discovered the echo feature in my music software. In a somewhat delirious state, I created this piece of musical mayhem. It treads the borderline between the unusual and sheer weirdness. The title, Vote For Pedro, is a reference to the cult movie: Napoleon Dynamite. "If you vote for me, your wildest dreams will come true."

2. This song is attached to a story about a man who falls in love with a mermaid. The blue to which he refers is the Atlantic Ocean, surrounding the westernmost peninsula of Penwith. The story is based on an old Cornish legend about the Mermaid of Zennor. Boy meets maid. Boy loses maid. Boy sets off in a handmade sailing boat... "I don't even know why, I have to see you."

3. "Once upon a desert night, I broke down..." Literally. Blythe is a town on the edge of the Mojave desert in California, where I totalled the rentacar I had hired to drive from L.A. to Mesa, Arizona. Why I was on this solitary road trip is another story and need not detain us here. Suffice it to say, I was holed up in a Motel 6 for three days and three nights waiting for a replacement car.

I was "reeling from the shock": the death of one of my best and closest friends. The only instrument I had to hand was the three string 'banjomer' that was my faithful companion throughout my wild wilderness years. This song was the result. "Try to remember: I'm always with you..."

4. "As the evening ends, here comes your little friend. He hasn't got time to chat, he waves his little hat and cries: Hiyo Silver!" This is a fragment of a fantastic project, which might one day be completed. You never know. The lush orchestration was the work of the same blithe spirit, mentioned in the previous song. "Would you like to go to Fairyland?"
